For eight years, criminal inspector Lea Bleck (Martina Ebm) sat in prison, convicted of murdering her mother. She is only released when her father (Paul Matic) confesses to the crime and takes his own life shortly afterward. But Lea does not believe that this tells the whole truth.
Back at the Salzburg State Criminal Police Office, she begins searching for answers, a difficult task, as no one stands by her side except psychologist Dr. Paula Meininger (Barbara Auer). LKA chief Friedl Wollweber (Tobias Moretti) explicitly forbids Lea from reopening the case, and her former partner and now superior, Tom Faller (Laurence Rupp), with whom she shares an unresolved past, keeps his distance. Gradually, Lea realizes that she cannot trust anyone and that the police system surrounding her is determined to keep the truth hidden. Despite all resistance and danger, she leaves no stone unturned to find out what really happened eight years ago.
